The ICON Ethnography group are delighted to
screen the documentary “Harvesting Traditional Knowledge”; a two-way
learning project created in 2013-2014 by the Association of Northern,
Kimberley and Arnhem Aboriginal Artists (ANKAAA) alongside
Aboriginal Community Art Centres and the Centre for Cultural Material
Conservation, University of Melbourne.
Produced by Indigenous film crew, Mulka
Projects, this documentary follows senior knowledge holders from
Aboriginal communities and museum conservators from Australian cultural
institutions, as they share the traditional harvesting of
bark and ochre, the production of boomerangs and spears and the
conservation of Aboriginal artefacts.
After the film we will hold our AGM to bring our
members up to speed with committee changes and our plans for the coming
